Foster Care

Action for Animals in Distress is always on the look out for responsible, caring, animal lovers who would share their home and open their hearts and be part of our Fostering team.

Foster parents offer a safe, temporary home environment to animals entrusted in their care and assist in evaluating habits and behaviors in order to offer more detailed information for prospective new owners. All animals must be kept indoors at all times.

Foster parents give love, care and attention to special needs animals such as nursing mothers, animals recovering from surgery, stressed animals etc. Once the rehabilitation process is completed the animal is then returned to Action in order to find a permanent new family.

Foster parents are also responsible for feeding, exercising, grooming and general evaluations of the animals.

The average length of time that any animal is in Foster care varies from approximately 6 weeks to 6 months.

Foster Parents are responsible for the cost of food. Veterinary expenses are paid by Action from public donations.
